The international tender contest to rehabilitate 84 km of water pipes in residential quarters, including 24 km of branch pipes, was announced on October 16. The interested companies can submit bids until December 22, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”.
This is the fourth tender contest held within the first stage of the two-phased Priority Investment Program to rehabilitate water pipelines in residential quarters of Chisinau and in the suburban communities of Durlesti, Togatin and Vatra, and multiple branch pipes of apartment buildings.
The winning companies will have 540 days at their disposal to perform the works. These will have to both draw up the execution project and to rehabilitate the water supply system.
Within the €64.8 million Priority Investment Program that is financed by the EBRD and EIB, there will be rehabilitated 205 km of water pipelines, over 3,000 branch pipes in apartment buildings and approximately 15 km of sewer pipes by December 2018.
In 2000-2003, an EBRD loan of about US$23 million was used to repair over 110 km of pipelines and a number of facilities of “Apa-Canal Chisinau”. This loan was fully repaid by the public utility following the twofold reduction in the volume of leakages in the period.
