Ten new trolleybuses assembled at the repair shop of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company started to run on routes. The trolleybuses of AKSM model will replace old units of transport on routes No. 4, 8, 12, 13, 21, 24, 25 and 28. Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the municipality proposes purchasing another 50 trolleybuses. The cost of a trolleybus assembled in Chisinau is €165,000, IPN reports.
“We are outfitting the municipality with new units of transport so as to contribute to developing urban mobility and to ensure conditions of safety, accessibility and comfort for passengers,” the mayor posted on his Facebook page.
The new trolleybuses include places for hand luggage, USB power sockets for charging electronic devices, LED-based optical blocks, heated mirrors, ramps for wheelchair users, air conditioning and video surveillance systems.
