Over 10,000 people in ten villages in the Floresti and Soroca districts will get access to a drinking water supply network over the next 36 months. The financing contract for the project “Water for Life in the North Region: Floresti and Soroca districs” was signed today, August 11. On this occasion, a ceremony was held in Bahrinesti village, Floresti. The total value of the project is 66.08 million lei, IPN reports.
As a result, the people of Bahrinesti, Cuhurestii de Sus, Cuhurestii de Jos, Targul Vertiujeni, Vertiujeni, Zaluceni, Tipordei, Nicolaeva, Unchitesti and Fagadau will get access to high-quality drinking water. The project includes the construction of 106.5 km of aqueducts, five water reservoirs and towers, four water capture and pumping systems.
Currently, the construction of a 28.2 km long aqueduct is underway in Bahrinesti. The pipe will serve about 450 households. The works should be completed in 7 months. Afterwards, the water supply service will be provided by local utility “Servicii Comunale Floresti”.
The opening of the “Water for Life in the North Region: Floresti and Soroca districs” project culminated with the signing of a financing contract. Eight village mayors and the acting head of ADR Nord put their signatures on the document.
The project value is 66.08 million lei, 29.90 of which will be provided by the National Fund for Regional Development, while 30 million lei are an investment offered by the Swiss project Water and Sanitation in Moldova (ApaSan). The local people will contribute 6 million lei.
