Ten schools that started the school year in a mixt format (with physical presence in classrooms and online), as from September 3 will ensure the physical presence of students in classrooms, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the directors reassessed the available school areas and identified solutions for all the students to go to school by obeying the epidemiological measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. A part of the ten schools will organize the education process in two shifts.

Currently, 78 of the 1,240 primary, secondary and lyceum education institutions apply a mixed regime – online and with the physical presence of students. Of these, 71 are in Chisinau.

Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală said the Ministry will continue to make effort to ensure equitable access to studies. “The children’s health is the priority of the authorities, which do not intend to diminish the importance of ensuring high-quality education, including by the physical presence of students at school,” stated the minister.

On September 1, dozens of
parents and children who are dissatisfied with the organization of the education process in a mixt format protested in front of the Government Building. The protesters called on the authorities to guarantee the children’s right to education, to ensure the return to classrooms and to exclude online learning. The same day, members of the public association “Solidary Parents” discussed the given problems with Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală and Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco.
