Ten records were set at the National Swimming Championships that took place in Tiraspol on June 26-28. The competition involved 185 athletes from Chisinau, Tiraspol, Balti and Rybnitsa, IPN reports.
The National Olympics and Sports Committee said Tatiana Chisca from Chisinau scored the result of 30.79 seconds in 50 m breaststroke. The swimmer also broke the record in the 100 m race, with the result of 1.07.59.
Tatiana Salcutan didn’t have serious competition in the backstroke race. She broke the national records in the 50m and 100m races with 27.89 and 59.80 seconds respectively.
In the men’s competition, Nikita Bortnikov from Chisinau won the 800 m freestyle race with the result of 8.15.45 and another four races.
The Moldovan swimmers are now to compete in the European Youth Championships of Helsinki (July 3-9) and in the
European Seniors Championships of Glasgow (August 3-9).
