A group of ten people lodged a petition with the Prosecutor General's Office, asking opening a legal case against Acting President Mihai Ghimpu as he discredited the memory of the soldiers who died in the war against fascism, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The reaction comes after an interview given by Mihai Ghimpu to “Vocea Basarabiei” radio station. Ghimpu said that the defeated should not go to the parade in Moscow on May 9, where it is will be celebrated the 65th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
One of the signatories Ruslan Popa, former leader of the organization “Congress of the Moldovan Peoples” that was assimilated into the Social-Democratic Party (PSD), read the petition in a news conference on April 30.
“As Mister Ghimpu propagates the misanthropic fascist ideology at national level, discredits Moldova and the Moldovan people and does not live up to voters' expectations, we consider that he should resign from the posts he holds or be dismissed,” he said.
The signatories demand that the Acting President apologize to the Moldovan people and the entire progressive mankind that condemned the fascist ideology.
Ruslan Popa, who will represent the interests of the signatories in court, said he goes to Moldovan settlements to find out the people's opinions about the statements made by Mihai Ghimpu. According to him, the people are indignant that he propagates the fascist ideology that causes division and misunderstandings in the society. Popa said that the Communists also dismembered the county during eight years.
Ruslan Popa stressed that there is no political party behind him. Those who joined the PSD together with the “Congress of the Moldovan Peoples” left the party in a month as they understood that it will not promote the youth, Ruslan Popa said.
