Ten new trolleybuses will start to run in Chisinau towards the end of this year. Thus, the total number of modernized units of transport will add up to 182. This means that each second trolleybus running in Chisinau will be new. The subject was discussed in the ordinary meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials on November 23, IPN reports.
The head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said that 20 units of transport are to be assembled this year. Seventeen of these already run on routes, while the assembly of the other three trolleybuses is being completed. Ten more new trolleybuses are being assembled at the factory in Minsk and will be put into operation by this yearend. They are now considering possibilities of outfitting the trolleybuses with Wi-Fi networks.
According to Gheorghe Morgoci, a number of proposals for extending a trolleybus route up to the Chisinau International Airport will be soon presented. About five trolleybuses are to be equipped with autonomous systems for travelling without electric power from the City’s gates up to the airport.
