Ten more trolleybuses will be assembled in Chisinau by the end of this year. The municipality will pay 30 million lei for them. The information was communicated by the head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci in the November 9 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.
According to him, there was signed an additional agreement to assemble ten more trolleybuses. A contract for the assembly of 20 trolleybuses was signed earlier. The assembly of the last five of these is being completed and they will be put into circulation this weekend. “By the additional contract, we were to agree the assembly of another 20 trolleybuses, but were furnished with information that the 30 million lei that we are ready to pay now represent the cost of only ten units of transport. Now we hold negotiations to have four of the ten trolleybuses outfitted with autonomous propulsion batteries so as to launch a route of trolleybuses with batteries,” stated Gheorghe Morgoci. He added that they plan to launch it next year and the route will most probably go to the airport.
Together with the ten trolleybuses that are to be assembled by the end of this year, there will be 182 new trolleybuses running in Chisinau.
Urban Bus Company director Iacob Capcelea said the working group chose the winner of the bus leasing contest. This is an economic entity that offered Dutch trolleybuses. A final decision will be taken after experts determine if these buses can be used in Chisinau.
