The Central Election Commission reminds the citizens of the Republic of Moldova with the right to vote, who are abroad or live on the left side of the Nistru River and intend to vote in the parliamentary elections and in the national consultative referendum on February 24, 2019, that they can registered beforehand until January 9, 2019, which is by 45 days before the election day, IPN reports.

The voters are invited to fill in an online registration form in the division “Registration Beforehand” on www.alegator.md. The registration can be also made on paper by submitting an application signed individually or collectively to the Central Election Commission or to Moldova’s embassies and consular offices. Within 25 days before the elections, the voter can annul the registration made earlier.

The registration in advance does not envision the removal of people from the electoral rolls at the place of residence. If the registered person is in the country on the election day, this could vote according to the domicile.

The Commission will process the data of voters who asked for registration beforehand by observing the law on the protection of personal data, which will be used only for checking the accuracy of information about the voter.

The registration beforehand allows determining the number of people who will vote abroad and of voters in the Transnistrian region so as to facilitate the establishment of additional polling places and to determine the number of ballots that will be distributed to the given polling places.

According to the Central Election Commission, 6,385 voters were registered by December 31, 2018.
