The first ten candidates for the mayoralty of Chisinau have been registered by the Chisinau District Electoral Council. Mihail Bagas’s file was withdrawn by the Party “League of Towns and Communes” which put him forward.

Contacted by IPN for details, the Council’s head Viorica Gadîmba said the ten candidates filed the required documents on the first day of submissions, September 19. These are: Vasile Costiuc of the Party “Democracy at Home”; Ruslan Codreanu of the Electoral Bloc “Ruslan Codreanu”;  Constantin Butucel of the Party “We Build Europe at Home”; Ion Ștefăniță of the “Respect Moldova” Movement; Diana Caraman of the Party of Communists; Lilian Carp of the Party of Action and Solidarity; Anatol Usatyi of the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova; Vadim Brînzaniuc of the European Social Democrat Party; Ion Bulgac of the Coalition for Unity and Wellbeing, and Adrian Albu of the Party of Socialists.

Viorica Gadîmba noted that the Party “League of Towns and Communes” on Tuesday asked to have its candidate Mihail Bagas withdrawn. The Council examined and satisfied the request. Respectively, the preliminary order on the ballot was modified.

The Council is to also take a decision about the registration of Mihail Poleanschi of the Civic Congress and Victor Chironda of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, who submitted the documents on September 20. The file of Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate Oleg Burlacu, which was presented on Tuesday, September 26, will also be examined.

Aspirants for the posts of mayor general of Chisinau and councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council can apply until October 6 inclusive. The documents are examined by the district electoral council within seven days of their receipt.

On November 5, there will be elected 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors. The election campaign starts on October 6.
