Nighttime temperatures of -5°C were forecast for this weekend in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
Gennady Roșca, head of the Forecasts Division of the State Hydrometeorological Service, said the current nighttime temperatures are lower than the norm for the start of April, when they should vary between -2 and +3°C. The daytime temperatures of +10 … +15°C expected this week are within the limits for the start of April.
As from April 7, the temperatures will decline owing to an atmospheric front associated with a cyclone that comes from southwestern Europe, namely Italy. There will be sleet and rain in most parts of Moldova, while in the southern districts there will be rain.
The low temperatures at night will persist during April 10-12 and will then rise to the normal levels of +1… +6°C. Daytime temperatures on April 10-12 will oscillate between +10 and +15°C.
The coldest day of April 5 in Moldova on record was in 1963, when there were -11°C in Briceni. The warmest day of April 5 was in 1998, when thermometers in Chisinau showed 26-27°C.
