The yellow code advisory for sudden change in weather is valid for February 6 as well. Weather forecasters said the temperatures will drop by 5-7 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow, February 7. The wind will blow at a speed of 18-23 m/s, in parts of 25 m/s.

The high winds of the evening of February 5 downed a number of trees. Contacted by IPN, the head of the Green Arrears Association Sergey Carp said they dealt with 12 more serious cases in Chisinau and all the downed trees and branches were removed. Near the State University of Moldova, a large branch fell onto the roadway, blocking traffic. On Nicolae Costin St, a tree fell onto three cars, while on George Coșbuc St, a branch fell over electrical cables. Also, two trees fell onto a private house on Așhabad St.

The local public authorities call on the citizens to be prudent and to call the central municipal dispatcher’s office on (022) 22-22-67, (022) 22-26-04 in emergencies.
 
The Border Police said a number of frontier posts on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border were closed owing to a power failure on the territory of Ukraine. It is recommended avoiding the Giurgiulești-Reni, Etulia, Cișmichioi, Vulcănești, Mirnoe, Ceadâr-Lunga 2 and Larga border crossing points. At the Giurgiulești-Galați border crossing point, the Romanian side maintained the ban on the passage of trucks.

According to representatives of the State Road Administration, there are no impassable roads. A number of 174 utility vehicles were engaged when snow fell on the night of February 6 and a layer of ice appeared in parts on roads. There was precipitation in northern and central Moldova towards evening. After midnight, the snowfalls became heavier in the southern districts.
