The president of the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” Constantin Marin suggested a new salary scheme. It was discussed at the July 15 meeting of the company's Supervisory Board, but no decision has been taken yet, Info-Prim Neo reports Constantin Marin said the new scheme must be approved both by the trade unions and the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family. Under the scheme, the reporters will get a salary of about 6,000 lei, while the department heads – of approximately 4,000 lei. “Why should a journalist have a higher salary than a department head?,” asked program moderator Mircea Surdu. He said he does not agree with the proposed amendments. Supervisory Board head Eugeniu Rybka said the information about the salaries should be public. Board member Viorica Mesin-Prodan said if a new salary scheme is approved, the quality of the journalists' work will improve. “The new televisions that appeared recently attracted the specialists. We must offer them better salaries so that they come to us,” she said. The new scheme will be discussed again at the July 23 meeting. The currently used salary schemes were approved without consulting the Supervisory Board.
