The National Public Broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova in 2008 made a profit of 94.188 million lei, a 20% increase compared with 2007, the company’s president Valentin Todercan said at the meeting of the Supervisory Board on March 20. “Among the major projects last year were the activities to celebrate the anniversary of writer Ion Druta, the preparations for marking 650 years of the foundation of the Moldovan state, the commemoration of the Cantemir dynasty, Eurovision Song Contest 2008 and others,” Todercan said. He stressed yet that the most important project was the 2008Independence Cup held under the aegis of President Vladimir Voronin.
Speaking about the tasks for 2009, Todercan said that they have to ensure a wide range of opinions during the 2009 election campaign, continue the dialogue with international organizations and monitor the process of institution’s digitalization.
Boris Focsa, a member of the Supervisory Board and the art director of Luceafarul Theater, expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the situation at the company is presented as stable, while in fact it is stagnant. For his part, Valentin Todercan made reference to the tasks carried out in 2008, compared with 2007.
Mariana Slapac, president the Supervisory Board and vice president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, reiterated the necessity of improving the news bulletins on the radio and television.
