A child from Chisinau has lost his life, after he was hit on the sidewalk by a luxury car driven by a minor without driving license.
Ion Roscovanu, inspector of the Road Traffic Security Service of the Road Police of Chisinau told Info-Prim Neo that Eugen Nicolaev, 14, student at the school nr 18, was run down by a Dodge Neon on Pelivan Street 5. The boy was walking on the pavement when the owner of the car, Ion Timus aged 17, driving without license lost control over the car. Because the driver exceeded the safe speed limit, the car left the carriageway and crashed into a wall and a metal gate, hitting the minor pedestrian. The child died at the hospital because of the heavy injuries.
After three hours exactly, a 19 years old driver, also without driving license, lost control over his BMW-518 crashing into the kerb at the crossroad of Hancesti and Focsani Street. The carriageway in that location is higher than the private houses, so that the automobile fell on the roof of a house and than damaged a wall and a part of another house. The driver, Mihai Gradinaru, student at the State University of Sports, suffered heavy injuries in the region of the chest and was hospitalized in the intensive care section of the Emergency Hospital. The passengers, two girls aged 21, students of the State University of Moldova, suffered concussions of the soft tissues.
During the last 24 hours, the road officers found out 15 intoxicated drivers, 41 without the seat belt, 72 speedings.
