A 16-year-old girl was admitted in a serious condition to the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit of the Mother and Child Institute after she allegedly fell from height.

Contacted by IPN for details, Cristina Ivanco, senior consultant of the Information and Communication Service of the Ministry of Health, said that the teenager is semi-conscious, in a serious but stable state.

"Immediately after the incident, the police were alerted, and the case is currently being investigated in order to establish all the circumstances," said the consultant of the Ministry of Health.

According to Cristina Ivanco, the teenager was staying in the Neurology Section of the Mother and Child Institute as she suffers from neurological disorders.

The Institute’s spokesman Maxim Cazacu confirmed for IPN that on the morning of March 17, a patient was found outside the institution with multiple injuries that were apparently suffered because of a fall from height.

"Currently, the patient receives all the necessary medical care within the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit, and her condition is closely monitored by the medical team," said Cazacu.

For her part, the head of the press service of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati noted that the Botanica district inspectorate launched an investigation into this case.

"It is to be determined whether the teenager fell from the window of the ward where she was staying or of an auxiliary room of the institution," said Natalia Stati.

She added that, following the incident, the police notified the person in whose care the teenager is.
