Teenage girl dies from carbon monoxide poisoning

A girl aged 16 from Crihana Veche village of Cahul district was found dead in her home in the morning of November 5. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, most probably the girl poisoned by carbon monoxide emitted by the stove, IPN reports.

An ambulance was called at 8:02am. The doctors tried to resuscitate the girl, but failed. There was smell of smoke in the room and live coals were found in the stove. The exact cause of death is to be found out by medical examiners.

To avoid cases of carbon monoxide poisoning, the General Inspectorate for Emergencies calls on the population not to leave the fire burning in the stove at night and to examine the heating systems before using them.

According to the Inspectorate, 41 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning with 18 deaths were receded in Moldova the previous cold season. Four of the victims were minors.
