The teenage boy who made false bomb threats through email in southern Moldova on January 19-21 was given a three-year suspended sentence by the Comrat Court. He was also obliged to pay 12,600 lei for the actions performed as part of the investigation, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to prosecutors, the bomb hoaxes targeted locations in Ceadâr-Lunga, Comrat and Vulcănești, such as educational institutions and a cemetery. The teenager aimed to upset the work of state institutions.
The Comrat Court rejected the prosecution’s request to also oblige the young man to pay about 58,000 lei in respect of non-pecuniary damage.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases intends to challenge the sentence in the Cahul Appeals Court.
