A boy aged 15 from Bălțați village of Ialoveni district died after he was struck by a car at about 10pm on June 21. Another bicyclist of the same age and from the same village and the passenger from the car, a man aged 44, were rushed to the hospital with different traumas. The driver of the car involved in the accident wasn’t inebriated, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the police in Ialoveni was informed about the accident at the entrance to Bălțați by a man. It was determined that the 65-year-old driver from Ialoveni district struck two teens on bikes coming from the opposite direction at a left turn on a sloping road.
The General Police Inspectorate recommends the bicyclists to wear reflective clothing when the visibility conditions are reduced, not to cross the road on bikes even on crosswalks and, when intending to change the direction, to make sure it is safe. The drivers are recommended to be maximally prudent when visibility is poor and to show respect and give way to bicyclists.
