The 16-year-old teenager from Chisinau, who was hurt in a blast in Chisinau, will stay in the hospital for at least three weeks. Contacted by IPN for details, the head of the Burns Unit of the “Emilian Coțaga” Children’s Hospital Igor Calmațui said the patient is in a medium grave state with first-, second- and third-degree burns on his hands and face.
The blast occurred in a common kitchen on the second floor of a six-story apartment building in the evening of February 22. The boy aged 16 was inside the kitchen where the explosion happened. Two children aged one and 16 and a woman who were outside the building suffered minor injuries.
The preliminary version formulated by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations is that the explosion occurred as a result of the violation of the fire safety rules when using natural gas equipment.
