A 16-year-old boy has been hospitalized with severe burns caused by electrocution.
Silvia Babara, doctor coordinator at the Chisinau Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the boy received a strong electric shock after trying to pick up a downed live wire in an open field. The wire has burned his fingers and right foot.
A 20-year-old man was admitted to the Holy Trinity Hospital for smoke inhalation treatment after he fell asleep while smoking indoors, in his home on Petricani Street. The cigarette caused the mattress to smolder.
Two teenage girls, 16 and 19, and a 42-year-old man attempted to commit suicide using gender-specific methods. The girls took pills, while the man cut his wrists open. All three of them have been hospitalized.
Two persons suffered various injuries in traffic accidents occurred on Wednesday. The collision between a VAZ and a Volvo, which took place on Cucorilor Street, resulted in a female passenger being hurt. The 20-year-old woman, while being 20 weeks pregnant, suffered brain concussion and spinal contusion, also showing symptoms of an impending miscarriage.
At around 21:00, a 27-year-old man was struck by a Honda car while crossing Aeroportului Street under the influence of alcohol. The young man suffered brain concussion, fractures of the left shank bones and thoracic contusion.
Over the past 24 hours, the Emergency Service received 735 calls, responding to 58 cases of trauma, 5 brain strokes and 26 cases of mumps.
