A teen aged 14 drowned in a pond located near Glinjeni village of Falesti district on June 28, IPN reports.
According to the Civic Protection and Emergencies Service, the boy went swimming together with a friend of his. He jumped from a barrage, dived and started to drown. His friend, who was on the bank, tried to help him, but failed.
An emergency team was called later. The frogmen found the body 10 meters from the bank, after almost three hours of searches.
The Civic Protection and Emergencies Service said that 11 cases of drowning were recorded in Moldova so far this summer. The victims include four minors. Rescuers warn the grownups not to leave the children unsupervised and not to allow them to go swimming alone. Jumping into the water from height and swimming at depth are banned as this is very dangerous.
