An 11-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car in Recea village, Râșcani district, while riding a bicycle.

Râșcani Police press officer Ina Moscaliuc told IPN that the driver who hit her is 31 years old and was traveling to Aluniș village of the same district. The driver was not found to be driving under the influence and apparently was not breaking any traffic rules at the moment of the impact.

The girl died instantly.

The police warn that in a single day four minors lost their lives in emergency situations. In Criuleni district, a 10-year-old boy died and another 11-year-old was seriously injured after the former set off a grenade at the playground. In Leova, a 13-year-old boy drowned, and in Chisinau a four-year-old girl fell out of a six-floor window.

The police are asking parents and guardians to always keep a watchful eye out for children. In case of any emergency, the public is urged to call the common number 112 that can be dialed from any fixed or mobile device.
