A team of young bloggers will disseminate information about the emotional abuse against children. During several months, the young people will stage thematic discussions and debates and will distribute informative materials intended for parents through drugstores and shops. The action is part of an emotional abuse prevention campaign mounted by the National Center for Child Abuse Prevention, in partnership with the Media Center for Youth, IPN reports.

Attending the launch of the campaign, Minister of Education Maia Sandu welcomed this initiative, saying the verbal and emotional abuses are considered less serious. But they can have devastating and long-lasting effects. The emotional abuse can leave an imprint for life, can undermine self-respect and can affect the children’s results at school,” she said.

The Center’s head Daniela Samboteanu said that by this campaign they aim to inform the adults about the fact that the words are also a form of abuse and verbal violence can have serious effects on the development of the child. “We want as many people as possible to receive the message through this campaign so that they afterward change their behavior towards their children,” she stated. Within the same action, there was created the Catalogue of Good Words where everyone is asked to write good words used in the communication between children and grownups.

Statistics show that half of the children aged between 0 and 7 witness domestic violence. The children are also witnesses to verbal abuse in the family as half of the parents quarrel before the children. The respondents from rural areas have arguments before the children more often that those from urban areas – 58.5% against to 49.9%.
