Team of Exceptional Situations Department participates in international management exercise of terrorist acts

A team of the Exceptional Situations Department (DSE) participates in the “Rough and Ready” International Management Exercise of the consequences of terrorist acts. The exercise is organized during September 14-29 in Odessa Region, Ukraine.
According to the press service of DSE, the aim of “Rough and Ready” exercise is to strengthen regional co-operation in liquidating consequences of exceptional situations and training the coordination procedure of offering assistance which are used in international humanitarian operations.
Liquidation of the consequences of a terrorist act in a sea port on a petroleum cargo ship will be simulated within the exercises. As well underwater rescue operations, collecting petroleum from the surface of the water etc. At the same time, participants will train their abilities in liquidating consequences of a terrorist act in a mall, using the “dirty bomb”, device which spread radioactive substances, as well as liquidating the consequences of a terrorist act in a train infected with noxious substances.
The team of the Republic of Moldova is composed of five groups: the team of radioactive and chemical research, of decontamination, rescue-unblocking, the team of lifeguards, divers and medical assistance. They will participate in all stages of the exercise.
22 persons and 5 technical unities participate in the trainings.
Also the teams of Azerbaijan, Georgia, USA and Ukraine participate in the exercise organized by the Ukrainian Ministry of Exceptional Situations.
