Teachers of Romanian language from education institutions of Gagauzia will study for their master’s degree at the Lower Danube University of Romania’s Galati from October 1. The issue was discussed in a meeting of vice governor of Gagauzia Nikolai Stoianov and the Romanian university’s administration that visited Comrat on September 11, IPN reports.

The University’s rector Iulian Barsan and his colleagues met in the capital of the Gagauz region with candidates for obtaining the master’s degree from the Lower Danube University, whom they interviewed. A number of 25 teachers from the autonomous unit were accepted for master’s degree studies this year. The number will rise to 50 next year.

Nikolai Stoianov said the region’s authorities would like the number of persons studying for their master’s degree to increase as the official language in Gagauzia is taught in kindergartens too. “We want the official language in our kindergartens to be taught at a high level,” stated the vice governor.
