Teachers from the municipality of Chisinau and delegates from EU and CIS member states are taking part in the sixth international conference “Unity through diversity” that is taking place in Chisinau on October 13-15. The head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said the event encourages cooperation between the school and community in the attraction of intellectual and material investments for developing the education system, IPN reports.

“We are glad that our colleagues from abroad are ready to share their experience and to cooperate in the building of an efficient education system. The major goals of the conference are to create a common cultural educational area, to ensure experience exchange and to address the common problems of the education institutions from the CIS and the EU,” stated Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb.

She noted that 67 cooperation agreements have been signed since the first conference. “This year, the workshops of the conference center on seven directions. Each of them is analyzing specific education problems such as the access to education of children with special educational needs, the financial autonomy of pre-university education institutions, gender education, etc. The integration into the European programs will help us to complement our actions and will facilitate the adjustment to the changes taking place in the European area,” said Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb.

Valentina Chicu, head of the Education Ministry’s Pre-University Education Division, said that when we speak about diversify, we usually also say ‘tolerance’, but we should better say ‘opportunity’.

The president of European Association of Teachers Silvano Marseglia said that this year’s conference was much better organized compared with the previous years and focuses on a wide range of problems encountered in the education sector, which are discussed from the perspective of the rapprochement with the EU.
