A primary classes woman teacher of the secondary school of Troita Noua village of Anenii Noi district was given four years’ probation and banned from working in the education sector for five years because she ill-treating a girl student, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the teacher was convicted for illegally detaining the girl and subjecting her to inhuman and degrading treatment. Legal action was taken after a local woman complained to the police that her minor daughter wants to commit suicide because she was maltreated and insulted by her teacher.

The investigators established that during classes in April 2013, the third grader was ill-treated, intimidated and insulted publicly by her teacher. The woman slapped the girl on the face and pulled her hair because she suspected her of stealing 205 lei from her bag. Afterward, the teacher locked the girl in the school’s basement, illegally detaining her there for two hours.

The prosecutors determined that the teacher regularly had such behavior towards the given student between 2011 and April 2013.
