In in 2024, tuberculosis patients undergoing outpatient treatment will receive ration and transportation allowances allocated by the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) directly on their debit cards. The new method will replace the current system based on food stamps and cash for transportation.
Each patient undergoing outpatient treatment will receive a debit card for free, enabling them to purchase food products from any store in Moldova operating a payment terminal. Each month, 150 lei on the cards will be reserved for transportation. The card will be serviced free of charge, and the transfer of money to the card will be made only to patients who strictly comply with the treatment for 28 days in a month.
The National Health Insurance Company says this simplified mechanism will provide a faster and more convenient way to receive the financial help needed to motivate patients to undergo treatment, as well as contribute to a more efficient administration of those resources.
Initially, the lists of beneficiaries will be provided to the bank through CNAM, and later each medical institution will inform the bank about the new patients included on the list. The money will be transferred monthly by the medical institutions that keep records of the respective patients and have concluded contracts with CNAM.
