From March 28 until March 31 inclusive, the subdivisions of the State Tax Service will have an extended program and will work by 7 pm, Nicolae Platon, head of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, said in a news conference.
The program was changed with the aim of enabling all the taxpayers to submit tax returns for 2010 and to pay the related taxes.
Nicolae Platon said that by March 28 they received 51,980 tax returns from private individuals, including 349 through the electronic statement service and 3,100 through the fast track tax service.
The legal entities filed 193,939 statements, including 31 through the electronic statement service and 1,100 through the fast track tax service.
There were also presented 9,500 common reports, including 10 through the electronic statement service and 560 though the fast track tax service.
“The tax return submission rate is normal. Last week, we visited the local inspectorates and I can say that there were not very many people there. Our people hurry up during the last days, as usual,” said Nicolae Platon.
He also said that 105 of the over 50,000 individuals who submitted tax returns declared incomes of over 1 million lei. Sixty of them were in the list of millionaires in 2009 as well.
Additional taxes of 34.6 million lei to the budget were calculated after the private individuals filed tax returns.
Under the Tax Code, those who submit tax returns after March 31 are penalized 5% of the calculated tax a month, but not more than 3%. The presentation of false statements is punished with a fine of 30% of the diminished sum. A penalty of 0.03% is put this year for every overdue day.
Last year, the private individuals presented 147,954 tax returns for 2009, while the legal entities – 72,049 tax returns. There were also filed 27,686 common reports. However, not all the tax returns were submitted by March 31.
