Taxi explodes in Telecentru

A taxicab burst into flames last night in Chisinau's Telecentru district after supposedly its gas cylinder exploded, injuring the passenger, a 25-year-old woman. The woman called the ambulance only when she reached home. She was rushed to the Burns Center with burns of second and third degree on her arms and legs. Another fire last night broke out in a home in Clocusna village, Ocnita district, damaging property and content. Fortunately, the inhabitants – a woman with two children – were awoken on time by a neighbor who had observed thick smoke coming out of the house. According to preliminary statistical data, from the beginning of the year there were recorded 1,682 fires across Moldova, killing 112 persons, including one child. The most frequent causes include reckless smoking indoors (319 cases), disregard for safety rules when using open fire (236 cases), and children playing with fire (179 cases).
