Youth Olympic champion Tatiana Salcuțan was chosen best swimmer at the Open Romanian Championship. The athlete from Tiraspol won the 100 m and 200 m backstroke races and finished second the 50 m backstroke race, IPN reports.
Tatiana Chișca also won two golds, in the 50 m breaststroke and 100 m breaststroke. Anastasia Moshenskaya ranked third in the 200 m breaststroke, while Denis Shvets won three gold medals among juniors and two bronze medals among seniors.
The Balkan Games also took place last weekend. Swimmer Anastasia Basisto won two golds and a silver at the competition hosted by Greece. The athlete from Balti won the 100 m and 200 m breaststroke races and finished second the 50 m breaststroke. In the 50 m freestyle race, Ivan Semidetnyi from Balti won bronze. Moldova took the the sixth spot in the country rankings.
