The acting president of the Romanian People’s Party (PPR) Tatiana Potîng decided to withdraw from active politics and to focus on teaching and research, IPN reports. “It is an assumed decision taken earlier, which I preferred to communicate to my party colleagues at first so as to finish the transfer of power inside the political party,” Tatiana Potîng posted on Facebook.

Tatiana Potîng entered politics in 2008. During the next years, regardless of the held post, she has been consistent in her doctrinaire affiliation, as she said. “I took part, together with the team of the PPR, in the sinusoidal process of unifying the unionist right within the Union Political Movement, being sure that only together we can bring this ideal closer. Regrettably, the élan, faith, values we promote not always convert into votes and electoral score. The current political tendencies and witnessed mutations made me abide by the principle “New people at new times” and to take a step back, leaving place for those with greater nerve and more vigor,” she stated.

The post of acting president of the PPR will be held by unionist leader Vlad Biletski.

Tatiana Potîng is a philologist, university professor.
