The Ministry of Health suggests updating the Catalogue of Common Tariffs for Medical-Sanitary Services provided for money by public health facilities. A Government decision drafted for the purpose provides for reductions and rises in the given tariffs.

To an inquiry by IPN, officials of the Ministry said that depending on the typical features of the provided medical service, the tariffs are adjusted differently. For example, a consultation with a specialist doctor now costs 21 lei, but when the draft decision is approved, this will cost 90 lei. The general blood analysis that now costs 26 lei will reach 75 lei.

For some of the medical services, the tariffs were reduced. For example, the +Dopler ultrasound scanning of the mammary gland in 2D now costs 261 lei, but will cost 248 lei when changes are made. The price of +Dopler ultrasound scanning n of the prostate in 2D will decrease from 323 to 248 lei.

There are also medical examinations whose prices will remain unchanged, like the echocardiography (70 lei).

The Ministry of Health said the adjustment of tariffs is a necessity. The current medical tariffs do not cover the real costs incurred by medical institutions. The calculations were done based on the financial costs of 2011. The inflation rate was adjusted much later, but the real costs are anyway not covered.
