The tariffs for public utilities will increase in the Transnistrian region in connection with the investments planned in the housing sector. The Transnistrian administration assured that the rises will not affect the population, IPN reports.

The local press reported that the authorities will cover the difference between the current tariffs and the new ones by transferring money to the housing sector managing enterprises.

Thus, the population will not pay more for public utilities. The bills will contain information about the covering of costs by the Transnistrian administration.

The money will be invested in modernizing the infrastructure as the networks are 70-100% worn out. According to forecasts, the region could remain without electric power, water and heat towards 2028 if the networks are not replaced systematically.
