On the occasion of the 21th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the president of the Constitutional Court Alexandru Tanase issued a message saying the fundamental mission of the supreme law is to ensure democracy and social harmony, but such an objective cannot be achieved if the constitutional rights are not respected unconditionally and if justice, political pluralism and market economy are not ensured as these values represent the existential philosophy of the state from which we cannot deviate, IPN reports.

“Democracy is a value that should be protected daily. Thus, the Constitutional Court was trenchant every time the violation of the constitutional norms was ascertained and will further ensure the supremacy of the Constitution, the separation of powers in the state and the responsibility of the state before the people and of the people before themselves,” says the message of the Constitutional Court president.

Alexandru Tanase noted that the Republic of Moldova was built based on the principles stated in the Declaration of Independence, which can also be found in the Constitution. “On the occasion of the 21th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, in the name of the Constitutional Court, I congratulate everyone and wish you prosperity. I call on you to contribute to building a society governed by justice and truth and to obey the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova,” reads the message.

The Constitution of the Republic of Moldova was adopted on July 29, 1994.
