About 200 people will be able to train daily in the new gym opened by the “Stokas Leukas” Club on September 19. Club founder Vasile Filat declared during the opening ceremony that he walked a long time towards achieving this goal and that the club finally found a home 15 years after its foundation. Vasile Filat told Info-Prim Neo that the club coaches are ready to train children of at least 4 years of age. All those interested can sign up for taekwondo lessons. “Stokas Leukas” also offers tae bo classes, a sport that combines taekwondo moves with aerobic exercises to improve the physical condition of those who practice it. It is especially regarded for women. The Club’s founder added that the coaches would focus on individual work and quality and the trained groups will have fewer members. Liberal-Democratic MPs Valeriu Strelet and Valeriu Ghiletchi attended the opening. They highlighted the importance of the event and said that in a healthy body dwelt a healthy mind and a clean soul. “I was a colleague in faculty with Vasile Filat”, said Valeriu Strelet. “He was a serious student and was always focused on his passion – martial arts. He was always training while other students were chatting outside. I’m glad to see he achieved his dream”, added the MP. Valeriu Ghiletchi congratulated the people who worked on opening the training room and promised he would encourage his nephew to learn taekwondo here. During 15 years since its foundation, the “Stolas Leukas” Club prepared over 22,000 trainees, participated in 150 championships and won 1450 medals. The club’s founder Vasile Filat dreamt practicing martial arts since childhood, especially karate. After becoming a student, he discovered and focused on taekwondo and involved several family members in this sport. He hoped to have his own training room with quality equipment so that he didn’t have to rent gyms for his pupils. Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, which often uses high kicks with the foot.
