Symphonic concert dedicated to National Culture Day

The Chisinau-based Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” is organizing today a concert of symphonic music dedicated to the Day of National Culture, IPN reports.

Starring in the event are two world-acclaimed Romanian musicians – pianist Ilinca Dumitrescu and cellist Cristian Florea. Admission is free.

The concert will also feature the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic, directed by the celebrated Romanian-born Spanish director Octav Calleya, and the Academic Chapel Choir “Doina”.

The organizers said in a press release the program includes Franz von Suppe's “Poet and Peasant” Overture, Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Concerto no.3, Ion Dumitrescu's Symphonic Prelude, Doru Popovici's “Homage to Sadoveanu” for Cello and Orchestra, and George Enescu's Romanian Poem Op.1 for Choir and Orchestra.

The concert will be hosted by the Great Hall of the National Philharmonic, starting 6:00 PM.
