Switzerland reiterated the importance of the democratic values, including the preeminence of the law, media pluralism, opportunities for civil society and free and fair elections, stated the Ambassador of Switzerland with residence in Kiev Guillaume Scheurer, who had a meeting with PAS president Maia Sandu and PPPDA president Andrei Năstase in Chisinau, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Embassy of Sweden said the leaders of the two parties spoke about their concerns over the situation in the country and their political intentions.
Guillaume Scheurer came to Chisinau to meet with officials, representatives of civil society and political parties and members of the diplomatic community.
Switzerland in April 2018 launched a new four-year cooperation strategy for Moldova that centers on three areas: Health; Local Government; Economic Development and Employment. All the projects financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation promote human rights, gender equality and social inclusion. The Government of Switzerland planned a budget of 46.9 million Swiss Francs for implementing the cooperation strategy for 2018-2021.
Switzerland has supported the political, social and economic transformations in Moldova starting with 2000. Since then it has been one of the main donors of grants. Currently, Switzerland is the biggest bilateral donor in health protection in Moldova.
