During the next few weeks, the Association “Child, Community, Family Moldova”, in partnership with the Moldovan acoustic prostheses company AcustMED, will install FM systems bought in Switzerland at education institutions that are attended by 14 children with hearing impairments, who were reintegrated into the family. The equipment was purchased with money collected as a result of the cultural and social event “Generosity Gala” that was held on September 24, 2016.

Contacted by IPN, Lorina Ghitu, program manager at the Association “Child, Community, Family Moldova” – which represents the British charity “Hope and Homes for Children” in Moldova – said the FM system consists of an amplifier, a microphone for the child and one for the teacher. The system is used at classes and during the day, while at kindergartens in order to improve the acoustic signal and the quality of communication with those around in the learning process.

The 14 children were reintegrated into the family and left forever the residential institution - the children’s home of Balti municipality. Now the children attend the schools and kindergartens in their communities, where they receive expert assistance. The teachers and educators will be trained to use the devices that will be managed by the institutions. When the children leave the given institutions, the equipment will be transmitted to the institutions where the given children will continue their studies.

The technical support will significantly contribute to the social inclusion of the 14 children with hearing impairments. The FM systems were bought for 546,000 lei.
