The suspension of Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of Mayor of Chisinau represents settling of scores between former alliance colleagues, but the case in which this is investigated was most probably not fabricated, civic activist Victor Chironda stated in the talk show “Black box” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
The activist said the parking lots scheme existed and those involved admitted this. “We shouldn’t now commiserate with Dorin Chirtoaca and the other two officials of the City Hall, who were caught red-handed and now try to victimize themselves. This is the system they created themselves,” stated Victor Chironda.
Ilian Casu, Chisinau councilor of “Our Party”, said in other states it is absolutely normal for the functionary to be suspended from post for the period of the trial. But the fact that the Republic of Moldova is a captured state and justice is politically controlled and thus selective should be taken into account as things could have gone beyond the legal norms. In this situation, deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, who is loyal to the Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc, will take over from the mayor.
Councilor of the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Party - Iurie Leanca” Oazu Nantoi said it is not right to name Nistor Grozavu as mayor on an interim basis because this was arrested and is investigated in the same case as Dorin Chirtoaca. The City Hall is paralyzed and early mayoral elections could be a solution.
