Suspended head of National Standardization Institute gives 'lessons' to anticorruption officers

Igor Caldare, who was suspended from the post of director of the National Metrology and Standardization Institute, says evidence can be fabricated against anyone in Moldova, but the anticorruption officers cannot work 'professionally' even in such cases. In a news conference that he called masterclass for the investigation bodies, Igor Caldare said the legal case started against him was also fabricated, Info-Prim Neo reports. Caldare said he is intimidated by different methods, which do not yet produce the results expected by the investigation bodies. He made several 'recommendations' for the officers of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) as to “how to overcome the crisis centering upon his personality.” Igor Caldare said ironically that the threats against him should be more frequent and harsher and should include threats to murder him. “But the CCCEC officers do not have the necessary creativity, courage and professionalism,” he stressed. “The officers of the CCCEC should better assess their psychological, intellectual and creative abilities and examine the target's way of thinking.” According to Caldare, the anticorruption officers underestimated his abilities. The Center's head Viorel Chetraru should modify the composition of his team that is not prepared enough to successfully deal at least with the fabricated cases. “It is impossible to fight the investigation bodies if you do not know the methods of this machinery. Unfortunately, practically all those who had to deal with cases opened by order against them gave way,” Igor Caldare said. Igor Caldare is accused of misconduct in office, but he pleads not guilty. He asserts that metrologists who are protected by public persons, including Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, lawyer Janeta Hanganu and the current head of the National Metrology and Standardization Institute Vitalie Dragancea, were involved in fraudulent schemes to purchase water meters. The mentioned persons deny the accusations.
