The Appeals Court upheld the decision of the Buiucani Court by which the four suspects in the case of stealing of money from Banca de Economii (BEM) were placed under arrest for a period of 30 days. On July 23, the court rejected lawyers’ requests to investigate the suspects outside prison and fully accepted prosecutor’s demands, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the founder of SRL Caravita Co, two managers of the company and its financial director will remain under arrest. They are held at the remand unit of the National Anticorruption Center.
The four are accused of money laundering and face up to 10 years in jail.
