A suspected case of flaccid paralysis was reported in a one-year-old child from Chisinau. Vladimir Bolocan, deputy head of the Chisinau General Medical and Social Assistance Division, in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, said that it is a symptom typical of poliomyelitis and it is alarming as the disease has no specific treatment. Doctors are waiting for the results of the examinations conducted at the Public Health Center to confirm or deny the diagnosis, IPN reports.

The child was admitted to the neurology division of the Mother and Child Institute.

Vladimir Bolocan also said that there are a number of diseases for which vaccines were invented precisely because they do not have treatments and poliomyelitis is one of those serious diseases that do not have specific treatment and vaccination is the only way to prevent the illness.
