This year’s National Wine Day will be organized for the first time by players of the winemaking and winegrowing sector with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the USAID CEED II (Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development) Project. The celebrations will involve 35 Moldovan wine companies that will be divided into regions according to the geographical indication, IPN reports.
The event will be followed by 25 EU journalists and five Moldovan bloggers who will cover live the events from the Great National Assembly Square. The visitors who will wear elements of the national costume will enjoy surprises from the organizers.
“For the first time this year, the winemaking and winegrowing sector will organize the Wine Day instead of the Agriculture Ministry. It is an additional occasion for promoting the Moldovan wine and for diversifying the export markets,” said Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov.
Eugen Paslaru, head of the organizational committee, said that for the first time the wine companies will be represented at the event by associations divided according to the geographic area. Glasses made of solid plastic, especially made for this occasion, will be used for tasting. They will contain the event’s logo.
Tourist offers at promotional prices for visiting national wineries will be presented in special tents. Those who want will be able to go on trips directly from the central square of Chisinau, said the executive director of the Moldovan Wine Guild Viorel Garaz.
CEED II project manager for the wine industry Diana Lazar said the campaign is aimed at promoting the Moldovan wines abroad. This year, promotional activities will be carried out in the country and abroad so as to increase sales.
The National Wine Day will be held on October 5 and 6.
