Surprise in Moldova's Cup

The 1/16 finals of Moldova's Cup produced the first surprise. The National Division team Sfantul Gheorghe was eliminated from the competition. The team from Suruceni lost to FC Cahul-2005 by 1-0, Info-Prim Neo reports. Another three teams from the senior league qualified for the next stage. CSCA-Rapid Ghidighici defeated the Division A leader FC Costuleni by 2-0, Academia UTM Chisinau beat FC Dava Soroca by 3-0, while Viitorul Orhei won against the Division B team Viisoara Milestii Mici by 2-1. The 7-6 scoreline in the Olimp Ungheni against CF Locomotiva Balti match was decided in overtime. In another tense match, RS Lilcora beat Victoria Bardar after overtime by 3-1. The other games ended as follows: CSF Cricova - CF Intersport Aroma Cobusca Noua 2-1, UASM Chisinau – Fortuna Pleseni 2-1. The 1/8 finals matches will be played on September 30, when the other eight National Division teams will enter the competition. The draw will be held on September 18, Info-Prim Neo reports.
