Supreme Court upholds vote recount order

The Supreme Court of Justice on Wednesday, June 29, rejected the appeal by the Communist Party and upheld the lower court decision that ordered a vote recount for the Chisinau City Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. Communist Party attorney Pavel Midrigan told reporters he was surprised by the decision. “We presented enough evidence, but the Supreme Court ruled otherwise. I have no comments for this decision”. At the same time, Liberal Party attorney Ion Casian stated the Supreme Court's decision was fair. Iulian Balan, the chairman of the Chisinau Election Council, said he would convene an extraordinary meeting to decide when to hold the recount.
