Following a search on Tuesday at the Supreme Court of Justice, its interim president, Judge Tamara Chișca-Doneva, has been summoned to appear before the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday to be formally charged with illicit enrichment.

The search and subsequent proceedings were authorized by the Superior Council of the Judiciary.

Judge Chișca-Doneva is suspected of having amassed, during 2014-2021, assets and property that are not consistent with her and her family’s official incomes.

Tamara Chișca-Doneva has been a member of the Bench since 1987 and a Supreme Court judge since 2003, serving as its interim president since March 2021. She was publicly accused of passing an illegal judgment in the Gemeni case, which Moldova eventually lost at the European Court of Human Rights.
