The Supreme Court of Justice has dropped charges of releasing a suspect from custody during investigation against Grigore Gorea, a former officer of the Centre for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCECC). Grigore Gorea told Info-Prim Neo, that the judgment of the Supreme Court came a week after the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled in his favour and awarded him 11,500 euros for damages. “It is very weird when a domestic court hears a case after ECHR pronounced a final judgement; but everything is possible here”, said Gorea. The former officer added that the judgment of the Supreme Court is irreversible, so that all charges against him were dropped. Grigore Gorea reminded that the case was opened six years ago and reopened after he made disclosures about the fabrication of the ‘ambulances case’.
