The Supreme Council of Magistrates endorsed the Justice Ministry’s bill on the liquidation of the Bender Appeals Court.

The Ministry proposed liquidating the court for the reason that the workloads at the courts of appeals vary considerably. According to the bill authors, the workload at the Bender Appeals Court is three times lower than at other courts of the same level, while the number of appeals examined there is over four times lower.

Head of the Supreme Council of Magistrates’ staff Ioana Chironet has told IPN that the Council formulated proposals for transferring the judges and moving the court to another building. They will be made public on the Council’s official website in several days.

The bill is to be examined by the Government and then by Parliament.
